Meet the people we've helped
Mrs 'A' in Accrington whose partner left her with four children and high credit card balances plus unsecured loans. Mrs 'A' could not afford to pay her mortgage and other debts. The property value had fallen leaving no equity remaining. Mrs 'A' worked as many hours as she could with four children under the age of 12 years but with other benefits could not make her money stretch the month. Mrs 'A' was fearful of answering the telephone and receiving post.
Debt Doctors diagnosed her situation and introduced her to a specialist firm that led her through bankruptcy. Her debts of £32,000 were written off in full and she was allowed to continue to live in her property provided she kept up mortgage payments, which she was able to do without servicing unsecured creditors.
Mrs 'A' now enjoys her life with her children benefiting from doing things a family should do, she sleeps at night and has started to eat correctly.
"I don't do the ironing at 3 O'clock in the morning anymore thanks to Debt Doctors"
Mr 'R' in Hartlepool is currently renting his property from a Housing Association. He is currently unemployed with his only income mainly coming from Incapacity benefit. Mr 'R' is a single parent caring for his two young children. Mr 'R' was concerned that he could not afford the two unsecured creditors amounting to slightly more than £7,000 costing him £316 per month.
Mr 'R' wanted to pay his creditors and therefore was advised to make arrangements for a Debt Management Plan to be administered by a specialist firm. Mr 'R' now makes a manageable monthly contribution of £150 and has the satisfaction of paying his creditors all the money he owes them and meeting his family budget.
Mrs 'R' in London was having to work as many hours as possible, late evening work in a Casino to pay a Debt Management Plan he could not afford. He had been paying £350 per month for the last 3 years into the plan and still owed over £60,000 to his unsecured creditors. Mr 'R' had no assets and lived in a rented property in North London with very little prospect of becoming debt free for another 15 years.
Mr 'R' made a successful application for his bankruptcy to write off his debts, he was instructed to pay a small monthly payment towards his bankruptcy estate but only for 36 months.
"I can now see light at the end of this arrangement to be debt free in 3 years and not 15 years"
